Why do flights delay sometimes?

Although most flights tend to be on time, flight delays are just as horrible as they are inevitable. Managing business travel itineraries are complex and occasionally nerve-wracking undertakings, one of the most common reasons being flight delays.

Let’s share some reasons why your flight may be delayed.

  • Weather-related issues. Although planes are equipped to take off, fly, and land in all types of weather, sometimes pilots must be far more cautious in certain scenarios. High winds and sleet are two additional factors in weather delays.
  • Engineering issues. If problems are detected during pre-flight checks (say on first class flights to Johannesburg from UK), there may be delays whilst they’re fixed; though you’ll be compensated; with certain terms and conditions.
  • Airport conditions - This is a general catch all term for things unrelated to the flight itself that causes a delay.
  • Windshield damage:- While on air, large birds or other objects bounce off the windshield, may cause delays in other flights.
  • Late arriving aircraft:- If one plane is delayed the connecting flights (say, first class flights to Hong Kong) are also delayed; the effect being referred to as “knock on” effect.
  • Waiting for connecting passengers or connecting bags.
  • Crew problems:- If the crew doesn’t show up suddenly, they must find a new crew.
  • Security measures:- If there is sudden reason for extra security checks.
  • Recently, some delays have been taking place due to checking of temperatures, covid19 certificates, etc. before boarding first class flights to Kingston(for example).

Departures happen on time most of the time. Associate with agents such as Business Flight Shop to help you through these situations. In the event of a problem arising, suggesting strategies for risk management has to be in place that supports business travellers; which is taken care of by them.

Prepare for your business trip

A lot of travelling is required for business; be it your own or whether you’re working for a company. Conferences, sales meetings, client trips, or just company retreats.

Travelling in first/business class flights to Karachi (say) makes it pretty easy. You save on time and energy. Moreover, you can work conveniently throughout the flight and reach your destination relaxed.

Start planning for the trip in advance. Some of the preparations you should be mindful of are:-

  • Get a work visa if you are visiting countries that require you to have a work visa for conducting business.
  • Secure an international phone plan.
  • It’s a good idea to know some basic phrases such as “Where is the…?, Hello, Goodbye, Please, Thank You, Can you help me?” Knowing and respecting the culture and customs of the place you are visiting is necessary.
  • Obviously, do get the passport for business class flights to Jacksonville (for example).
  • Pack the essentials like comfortable & appropriate business clothes & foot-wear, adapters & chargers, toiletries, etc.
  • Check for the weather and climatic conditions of the place you would be visiting.
  • Make reservations for flights (say – for business class flights to Islamabad from UK), accommodations, conference rooms, etc. well in advance; for more economic prices at your convenience.
  • Note important addresses and contact numbers in your phone.
  • Create an itinerary. Better still let the professionals do it.
  • Prepare the dress code, the required equipment depending on the purpose of your trip; be it presenting or attending conferences, trainings, meetings etc.
  • Use cloud-based storage for travel/business related documents or print the necessary materials ahead of time.
  • Track your purchases if you’re on work.
  • Be flexible with your schedule as flight/meeting delays and cancellations may happen due to unforeseen reasons.
